There is a large selection of Polaris ATP 500 tires and the first step in buying new tires is determining which type of ATV tire will work with your riding style. Depending on what part of the country you’re in you could be riding rocky, muddy, sandy or loose dirt trails. If you need tires on a budget look for 3 or 4 bias-ply tires. These thinner tires are good for soft terrain, grass and mild woods riding. The largest selection of ATV tires are 6 ply, these work great for trail riding, MX racing and mudding. The latest types of off-road tires to hit the market are the more expensive 8 ply radial tires. These tires were introduced for big utility 4×4 quads and UTV’s and they are designed for Baja and rocky trails.

Here are alternative ATV tire sizes for a Polaris ATP 500. We included these alternative sizes because in some cases the OEM/stock sizes are not popular in the aftermarket four-wheeler tire industry leaving few models to choose from. These alternative sizes provide more options and generally provide better performance by adding height for more ground clearance or adding width for more traction and stability.
Generally ATV’s can easily fit tires that are one inch taller and one inch wider without having clearance issues. In circumstances relating to older generation utility quads going up a size can cause slight rubbing, so double check clearances before committing.
In a few instances we found that the OEM/stock tire sizes were the best or only options. If you notice the alternative sizes are the same as the OEM/stock sizes, this is why.
