Recently Polaris introduced a Defense model of the Sportsman for the military. The two most notable upgrades for this combat ready ATV is the lightweight hybrid armor designed by M9 Defense and the NPT (non-pneumatic tires) or air less tires.
Polaris acquired Resilient Technologies™ a company solely focused on NPT development for military use, which gives Polaris a front row seat in the development of these NPT off road ATV tires that may one day become an option for Polaris ATV owners.
Although this design will not take over the industry, it does offer advantages to a certain segment of the market. This tire performs best in desert or rocky terrain and would offer a real advantage to riders in the southwest region of the country.
Imagine if you didn’t have to worry about flat tires, it would bring a whole new meaning to the term “All-Terrain”.
